Paraplegic and Brain
Injury
Spinal Cord Injury
often leads to considerable financial losses. Only 40% of
patients with paraplegia caused by spinal cord injury are
eventually able to return to the workforce.
Paraplegia Injury
is due to various causes. It typically involves an injury to the spinal
cord that can lead to paralysis in the legs and chest or
lower back. It is a serious condition requiring lifelong
medical care.
Quadriplegia involves injury to the spine, in
the cervix or neck area. Unlike paraplegia, which affects
only the legs or trunk of the body, quadriplegia can render
a person paralyzed in all four limbs.
Brain Injury
is unlike a cut or a bruise, trauma to the brain is not
visible. Since the victim of a closed head injury may look
fine outwardly and appear to interact normally in casual
encounters, the victim's friends, family members, coworkers
and employers may not be able to understand or sympathize
with his or her plight.
